Weekend with my New Best Friends

With Baba and RieRie in town, we braved the evening heat and visited Trail Dust Town (an old movie studio turned tourist trap) to get a feel for what the old Southwest had to offer.

Here I am panning for gold with Elmo.

My head didn't get stuck this time.

The choo-choo train coming around the bend. Even though it moved at a snail's pace, I was pretty terrified.

When I got on the train, my diaper was clean...

We ate at Pinnacle Peak, where ties are not allowed. If you wear one, they cut it off and hang it up. The menu has just about one thing... meat, meat and more meat. I got the green beans and dipped them in my mashed potatoes.

Enjoying some banjo music after dinner.

This was definitely Baba's idea.

RieRie ate all my fruit snacks, so I had to lock her up.

The rest of the weekend was spent trying to find fun activities that involved air conditioning. We ate at a yummy pizza place, followed by gelato, visited the mall playground and pet store, and a used bookstore. Most of the time, though, we hung out at home where the food was free and the air conditioning plentiful.

Baba and I played catch with Monkey.

Showing off Tiny Baby (as opposed to Regular Baby who is on RieRie's lap).

Baba kept teasing me and saying that my Buddies liked him better.

But RieRie took pity on me.

Thank you Baba and RieRie for playing with me this weekend. I can't wait to do it again.

Dozing Bean

When I'm not feeling good, I can fall asleep anywhere... including the frozen food aisle at Safeway.

Welcome Home Grandma!

We spent this past weekend in Mesa welcoming home my Grandma. It was a jam-packed few days with lots of fun activities.
At the airport.

At Saydie and Janee's baptism.

At the pool party, eating yummy frog eye salad.

She's got the magic touch.

A big THANK YOU to the Evans for letting us crash at their house. I had a ton of fun with my cousins!

I Wear my Sunglasses at Night

Sometimes I fall asleep with my "Bono" sunglasses on. Just call me Beano.

Pool Days

I sure am going to miss pool days with my cousins...

Countdown to Grandparents

My Baba leaves Baghdad for good in two weeks. He's stopping in Arizona on his way to Utah to play with me for a few days. I can't wait! Then in August, Baba, Mama De and Uncle Chris are moving to Cairo. Its about time they took a post that I can actually visit. Pyramids, here I come!

In other news, my Grandma Proffitt is coming back from Germany in 10 days. Its been over a year since I've seen her and I bet she'll be surprised at how much I've grown. I can't wait to see her again and show her all my dollies.

The Fourth of July

For Independence Day, my parents and I joined the masses and headed out to Marana's Fourth of July Celebration. It was a free event with games, food, bouncy stuff, watermelon eating contests and lots of karn-on-the-cob. It was a giant town festival and a great way for us newbies to get a taste of the local area. We saw lots of cowboy hats, rat-tails and even a woman wearing camouflage overalls- that's it... no shirt underneath, just the overalls.

My dad and I sitting on some hay listening to the band play.

Here I am dancing like no one is watching... dancing to country music like no one is watching. How embarassing.

Monsoon season is just starting here in Tucson so they did the fireworks show early to avoid an oncoming storm. The storm really cooled things off. It was perfect. (I bet you don't believe that Arizona has a monsoon season... seems silly but its true.)

We ended up having a combined lightning AND fireworks show.

Here's my dad and I watching fireworks. It turns out, I'm scared of fireworks and no amount of encouragement from my parents could help relieve my fears. I suggested that we leave early to beat the traffic- it had nothing to do with the fact that I'm a huge wimp and didn't want to see any more "boom-boom."

I was MUCH happier in the safety of my car seat surrounded by my dollies.

Morning Walks

One of the advantages of walking with my mom at 5:30 in the MORNING... not only is the weather bearable, its downright pleasant with a nice, cool breeze.

One of the disadvantages of walking with my mom at 5:30 in the MORNING... allowing the neighbors to see how girly I am.
